Click on the following types of facilities to view a listing of programs to contact: Comprehensive outpatient substance abuse treatment programs are supervised, structured programs that offer a wide range of outpatient services which may be coordinated by a case manager and may include individual and group counseling, 12-step meetings, social and recreational activities, educational and vocational services, life skills training, primary health care, perinatal health care, a program for family members, relapse prevention services, a continuing care program and supportive services (such as child care, transportation and parenting skills development) for individuals who have problems related to substance abuse, who need access to treatment to maintain their individual recovery plans but do not require the intensity of a day treatment program or 24-hour hospital care.

Mental health nurses work with people from all backgrounds to assess and treat psychiatric issues through work in the hospital and the community. These are children who present with psychiatric complications of a medical illness or a primary psychiatric disorder complicating a medical illness. S. adult population.3 It has been estimated that by the year 2020, depression will be the second leading cause of disability throughout the world, trailing only ischemic heart disease.4 Evidence has shown that mental disorders, especially depressive disorders, are strongly related to the occurrence, successful treatment, and course of many chronic diseases including diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular disease, asthma, and obesity5 and many risk behaviors for chronic disease; such as, physical inactivity, smoking, excessive drinking, and insufficient sleep.
